The Potter's House

The Potter's House ministry is located in the Broad Ripple section of Indianapolis and managed by Sister Karen Van De Walle, a busy Indianapolis artist who wears her love for the arts in her hearts' core.  Sister Karen custom-mixes her own glazes, which vary in color and intensity. She sometimes adds brush work in various colors, and at times adds carving into the clay, called "faceting".

Display shelves in The Potter's House feature a wide variety of pots, bowls, pitchers and platters. An item perhaps most in demand is The Blessing Cup, a chalice-shaped vessel favored for special occasions as well as for its pure aesthetics. The cup is often paired with a book titled The Blessing Cup: 40 Simple Rites for Family Celebrations. The cup and book make especially meaningful gifts.

Sister Karen says, "I sense the soul of the artist as I sip my coffee from another potter's mug." She enjoys "an incredible experience of intimacy and comfort" left in the work by the hands and the spirit of a fellow potter. It is the same response that she hopes her work will draw from you.

A creative, spiritual energy makes The Potter's House a unique destination!

Hospice Saint Joseph

Hospice Saint Joseph was opened in October 1, 1989, by Sister Ann Weller, CSJ.  It is co-sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph and the Catholic Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana, with a mission to provide an environment in which the presence of Jesus and his loving care can be experienced.

The Guest/Retreat House offers a clean, safe, and welcoming atmosphere for visitors.  If requested, the resident staff will seek out service opportunities for guests. A stay at Hospice Saint Joseph will most certainly bring newcomers to a greater understanding of Haitian daily life.  To learn more about Hospice Saint Joseph click here.

Fees for a stay at Hospice are $25.00 per night, per person, which includes breakfast and the evening meal. If transportation is needed, cars are available in Port-au-Prince.

Little Noddfa Retreat & Spiritual Life Center

Little Noddfa (the Welsh word for "refuge" or "shelter") was founded by Sister Wanda Wetli, CSJ, and is located on the grounds of St. Joseph Center, Tipton, Indiana. It is here in this renovated, turn-of-the-century house, wrapped in the sheltering arms of splendid old trees, that Sister Wanda provides spiritual direction.  From the "warm-bread" feeling of the kitchen entryway, to the five guest rooms with private baths, to the screened porch lined with rocking chairs  and swing, Little Noddfa imparts a sense of shelter and serenity. Noddfa even provides it's own private chapel for reflection and prayer. Quiet prevails. Peace lives here.  Perfect for private or small group retreats.
